Marchesi Antinori's Toscana Tignanello was born in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the historic vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello, located on hills characterized by alberese and galestro soils. It is one of the symbolic wines of the Italian winemaking renaissance and is produced mainly by Sangiovese, with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are harvested manually and vinified separately by variety and parcel. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by maceration careful to extract structure and elegance. The aging takes place in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second-pass, for a period of approximately 12–14 months, followed by further aging in the bottle which completes the balance of the wine. On the nose it is intense and complex, with scents of ripe cherry, berries and plum, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, tobacco, cocoa and light balsamic nuances. On the palate it is structured and elegant, with thick but silky tannins, a well-integrated freshness and a deep and harmonious taste texture. The ending is long and persistent, with fruity and spicy returns that underline its great personality.
Iconic wine with great character, ideal for important occasions and moments of conscious tasting. It pairs beautifully with red meats, roasts, braised meats, game, structured Tuscan dishes and aged cheeses.
To enhance its complexity and elegance, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
