Marchesi Antinori’s Toscana Tignanello is produced in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the historic vineyards of the Tignanello Estate, situated on hills characterised by Alberese and Galestro soils. It is one of the iconic wines of the Italian wine renaissance and is produced mainly from Sangiovese, with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified separately by variety and plot. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by careful maceration to extract structure and elegance. Ageing takes place in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second-fill, for a period of approximately 12–14 months, followed by further ageing in the bottle to complete the wine’s balance. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe cherry, wild berries and plum, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, tobacco, cocoa and light balsamic undertones. On the palate, it is structured and elegant, with dense yet silky tannins, well-integrated freshness and a deep, harmonious flavour profile. The finish is long and persistent, with fruity and spicy notes that highlight its great personality.
An iconic wine of great character, ideal for special occasions and for moments of mindful tasting. It pairs magnificently with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, game, hearty Tuscan dishes and mature cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
