The Antinori family is dedicated to the production of the most renowned Tuscan wines through the use of innovative and avant-garde techniques, engaging well-kept secrets and a full passion for the area. The Marchesi Antinori winery is the reference point for wine production of the area, and is an expression of courage and wisdom in producing wines that reflect love for the area. All this, for an unforgettable final product. Using the best grapes from the best vineyard, Solaia is produced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes grown in the vineyard of the same name. The Tignanello and Solaia vineyards are located on the same hill, on soils comprising marine marl with limestone and shale. Harvesting the best grapes in perfect condition is given particular attention, before picking, destemming and then gently pressing and transferring them by gravity into stainless steel tanks. Fermentation and maceration take place in truncated conical tanks, a phase in which much attention is paid to maintaining a perfect balance between the fruit and the quality of the tannin, oriented towards sweetness and aromatic fragrance. The malolactic fermentation begins in barriques, followed by an ageing process in French oak barrels for at least 18 months. After an initial period of maturation in separate lots, these are combined in wood to complete the evolution. Solaia Toscana has an intense and deep ruby red colour. The nose is striking for its intense notes of ripe dark fruit, with sensations of blackberry and currants that alternate with notes of balsamic, fresh mint and myrtle. The bouquet is completed with refined spicy aromas of white pepper, toasted cinnamon and cocoa powder. The palate is rich and enveloping. The soft, velvety and vibrant tannins give length to the finish and persistence in the aftertaste, and the toasted notes perceived by the nose return in full flavour. A perfect wine for sipping leisurely.
