TASTING NOTES

Production

Petra’s Rosso Alto is produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes harvested in October. It ferments in temperature-controlled vats, then matures in barriques for 18 months and rests for a further 6 months in the bottle before being released.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Bright red in colour. The bouquet centres on wild berries and violets with a mineral note on the finish. On the palate, it is pleasantly fresh and structured, with firm yet well-balanced tannins.

Occasion and Pairing

Perfect for accompanying dishes with meat ragù, it is ideal with red meats and game. Serve at a temperature of 18°C in a fairly large glass.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Petra

The Philipponnat family has been present in the land of the Champagne since the 16th century, when ancestors were winemakers, shopkeepers and suppliers of Louis XIV at the time of the Counts of Champagne. The legacy of the Maison Philipponnat has been handed down over the centuries: a dynasty of men and women who still hold a secular philosophy, each of whom has been careful to pass on the savoir-faire inherited from their predecessors. The spirit is still familiar today, with the aim of elaborating Champagne respecting the values of the Maison: originality, excellence, generosity and simplicity. The secret of Philipponnat is expressed using the wood solera method, in order to keep in each bottle traces of the thousandths assembled from the origin. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Champagne Philipponnat - 13, rue du Pont - 51160 Mareuil sur Aÿ - France. The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
