Tenuta dell’Ornellaia’s Toscana Ornellaia Bianco is produced on the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri and is one of the region’s most refined white wines. It is made primarily from Sauvignon Blanc, with a small percentage of other white grape varieties grown in the estate’s vineyards, characterised by stony soils and influenced by sea breezes. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes are picked in several stages to ensure perfect ripeness and aromatic complexity. Vinification involves fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques, some of which are new, followed by ageing on the lees, which imparts structure, depth and elegance. A further period in the bottle completes the wine’s harmony.
Visually, it presents an intense straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. On the nose, it is complex and refined, with aromas of ripe citrus, peach, exotic fruit and white flowers, accompanied by notes of vanilla, hazelnut, aromatic herbs and delicate mineral nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied, rich and enveloping, with a substantial structure balanced by fresh acidity and a distinct savouriness. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, with fruity and mineral notes that enhance its depth.
A white wine of great class and character, ideal for special occasions and for moments of mindful tasting. It pairs magnificently with substantial fish dishes, premium shellfish, refined white meats, complex risottos and medium-aged cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.
