TASTING NOTES

The Gorgona project was born in August 2012 in collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only prison island in Europe. In this place the prisoners spend their last sentence, working in contact with nature. Around a small vineyard, in the heart of an amphitheater overlooking the sea, begins the project whose goal is to allow prisoners to have a concrete and active experience in the field of viticulture, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi agronomists and oenologists. Today the vineyard has an extension of two hectares, of which one initial and a second planted in 2015. From this vineyard of Vermentino and Ansonica comes Gorgona, the fruit of the uniqueness of the place, the work of man and symbol of hope and freedom. The label of Gorgona wants to be the extraordinary edition of the island, telling each year a different aspect. Bianco Gorgona has a straw yellow color with golden reflections, the nose expresses Mediterranean notes with white and yellow flowers, to which emerge daisy, chamomile, hawthorn and mimosa. There are scents of exotic fruit, passion fruit, mango and Mandarin: the palate is savory and at the same time long and fresh. Persistence and remarkable intensity. Gorgona Bianco is excellent in combination with a pasta with vegetable sauce or with white meat. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 12/14 ºC. THE WINERY

Frescobaldi

With a history dating back to the Middle Ages, when Florence was the most important commercial and cultural crossroads in the modern world, the Frescobaldi family has been established as one of the leading wineries in Tuscany for centuries. The Frescobaldi vineyards cover a total of 1,200 hectares, spread over several estates, each with its own characteristic microclimate and terroir. The distinctive strength of this winery lies in the ability of its managers to enhance the diversity and uniqueness of the Tuscan territory. Agronomists and oenologists work together to cultivate the vines in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. Involved in this enterprise for 700 years, the Frescobaldi family has skilfully kept up with innovations, interpreting the most prized red wine labels with absolute mastery, including the Chianti, the Brunello di Montalcino and the Rosso di Montalcino. But all wines from the Frescobaldi winery contain a kaleidoscopic bouquet of aromas and flavours that give them an exceptional personality, perceptible at a glance. Name and address of producer/distributor: Frescobaldi - Via Aretina 120, 50065 Sieci Firenze (FI). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
