Frank Cornelissen's Terre Siciliane Munjebel Rosso rises on the northern slope of Mount Etna, in an extreme territory characterized by lava soils, high altitudes and strong temperature variations. It is obtained mainly from Nerello Mascalese grapes, with possible small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio and other native Etna grape varieties, grown as saplings on mineral-rich volcanic soils. Viticulture follows a natural, non-interventionist approach, without the use of synthetic chemicals. Harvesting is manual and winemaking takes place with spontaneous fermentations, without the addition of selected yeasts, clarifications or filtrations. Aging takes place in neutral containers such as fiberglass tanks or large vats, to preserve the authentic expression of the grape variety, soil, and vintage.
It appears transparent ruby red in colour with garnet reflections. On the nose it is deep, essential and strongly territorial, with scents of fresh red fruits, cherry and pomegranate, accompanied by floral notes, aromatic herbs, light spices and marked sensations of lava stone, ash and smoke. On the palate it is tense and elegant, with fine tannins, a vibrant freshness and a marked flavour. The ending is long, dry and mineral, with great precision and personality.
Wine of an authentic and unconventional character, ideal for conscious tastings and for enthusiasts in search of territorial and identity wines. It pairs perfectly with unstructured white and red meats, Mediterranean dishes, light game and medium-aged cheeses.
To best enhance its elegance and tension, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
