TASTING NOTES
The Vietti winery was founded at the end of the 19th century by Carlo Vietti in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto in the heart of the Barolo production area immersed in the Langhe. Today, the Vietti name is recognised worldwide as one of the most important wine producers in the world thanks to the work of four generations and, above all, of Luciana Vietti and Alfredo Currado who introduced great little innovations such as the first production of cru Barolo, the vinification of pure Arneis and designer labels. A path later followed by his son Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena. Today, the winery has expanded thanks to the acquisition by Krause Holding. Which left Luca and Elena at the helm of the company. The vineyards are all cultivated in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto and Barolo DOC. The main grape variety is Nebbiolo, responsible for the great Barolo wines, but Vietti also produces Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. The terroir in this area is characterised by the production of wines with good structure and fruit but also elegance and freshness. Some can continue to age in the bottle for decades. The Vietti winery owns vineyards in some of the most important crus of Barolo including Brunate, Lazzarito and Ravera. Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco is a dry red wine produced entirely from Nebbiolo grapes grown in vineyards located partly in Barolo and partly in Barbaresco. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel. Each vineyard plot is individually vinified and aged for 2 years until the final selection of the lots destined for this wine or Barolo Castiglione. Ruby red in colour. On the nose, hints of ripe black fruit, mint and wild herbs, blackberry and black cherry. Elegant, with soft medium-bodied tannins and good structure. It retains an excellent freshness. A Piedmontese red to be enjoyed with beef and lamb steaks. Roasts, braised meats and stews.
