A family-run business, located in Campania in Massa Lubranese, a few kilometres from Naples. The Il Convento farm traces its roots back to 1935, when Antonino Pollio took over a plot of land that had previously been worked, cultivated and then abandoned by the monks. Following the techniques he had learnt in previous years, he thus began a series of crops that were subsequently passed down through the family, specialising over the years in the production of lemons for the limoncello typical of the Sorrento peninsula. Today, Il Convento produces liqueurs, oil, wines and other specialities from its own land, following the principles of organic farming through artisanal production that fully respects nature and its cycles. This exquisite sweet-and-sour liqueur with its authentic flavour is made from Sorrento lemons. The lemons grown by the Pollio family are of the ‘Ovale di Sorrento’ variety, a succulent citrus fruit of great quality. The bottles of limoncello produced at Il Convento are completely free from preservatives and colourings. Its inimitable organoleptic characteristics stem directly from the excellent quality of the lemons from which it is made and the care taken during maceration, using the ancient recipe handed down from generation to generation.
Intense yellow in colour, fresh and velvety, with a delightful taste, it releases all the natural aromas of the Sorrento Oval Lemon PGI.
A bottle to be enjoyed ice-cold at the end of a meal, after coffee, when the time for reflection arrives.
To fully appreciate its character, this liqueur should be served at a temperature of 4°C.
