TASTING NOTES

The Lazio Bianco De Coccio produced by Tenimenti Leone is a dry white wine belonging to the Igp Lazio. Tenimenti Leone is a young company, founded a few years ago. It is located near Rome, in the heart of Lazio, located exactly between the towns of Velletri and Lanuvio, in an important area from a natural and artistic point of view, since these towns are part of the Castelli Romani Regional Park. This area is notable not only for the flora and fauna that it hosts, but also for its geological composition: the park includes, in fact, the area of the ancient Latium Volcano, which also gave life to the basins of the current volcanic lakes of Nemi and Albano. It is therefore a special kind of terrain, capable of imprinting its essence on the products produced here. The Tenimenti Leone company, because of the passion it has for the land to which it belongs and for the grapes themselves, uses certified organic farming methods for its wines; as is the case for Lazio Bianco De Coccio, produced with Verdicchio, Bellone and Chardonnay grapes. Verdicchio is a particularly eclectic Italian grape, with which white wines for ageing can also be produced. Bellone is a local native variety, widespread in the Castelli Romani area since Roman times. These Italian grapes are joined by the international Chardonnay, with its warm and intense aromas, and its softness on the palate. The Lazio Bianco De Coccio wine, deriving from the blend of these three vines, owes its name "De Coccio" to the specific ageing it undergoes: in terracotta amphora. The result is a wine that appears an intense straw yellow, with golden hues in the glass. On the nose, it reveals hints of ripe fruit such as yellow peach, but also tropical fruit, mixed with fresher floral notes, and earthy nuances attributable to the ageing in amphora. In the mouth, it is warm, full, soft, but at the same time maintains a good acidity. Suitable for special occasions, such as a dinner with friends with dishes based on white meats or fish and shellfish. Read more Read less
