TASTING NOTES

Langhe Freisa by Giuseppe Rinaldi is produced from 100% Freisa grapes, with manual harvesting and fermentation in stainless steel or cement. During this period, which lasts about 10-15 days, the must is regularly reassembled and follate to favor a good extraction of color, aromas and tannins from the skins. After maceration, the wine is poured into containers where it undergoes malolactic fermentation, which contributes to reducing acidity and giving a higher roundness to the wine. The Langhe Freisa by Giuseppe Rinaldi is aged in used oak barrels, where it matures for a period of 6-12 months. The use of used oak barrels allows to maintain the balance between the fruity notes and the complexity of the wine, without overpowering them with excessive notes of wood. The glass has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose is intriguing and complex, with notes of fresh red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by floral hints of rose and violet. There are also spicy, herbaceous nuances and a slight hint of black pepper. The palate is lively and fresh, with a good acidity that gives the wine a great drinkability. The tannins are present but soft, well integrated with fruity and spicy notes. The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste that recalls fruity notes and a slight hint of bitter almond. It goes well with Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin with meat sauce, agnolotti del plin, cold cuts and medium-aged cheeses. Excellent with white meat and vegetable dishes. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Giuseppe Rinaldi

A winery that has now become legendary. Giuseppe Rinaldi, known as “Citrico”, has represented the tradition and craftsmanship of the Langa at its best for years. A nickname given because of the “sour” character and that note of “citrus freshness” that characterised all his wines, especially Barolo and Nebbiolo. Having passed away a few years ago, his work is carried on by his daughter Marta Rinaldi with meticulous fidelity to his father's teachings. Attention to the vineyard and care of the environment surrounding the vineyards, minimisation of interventions in the winery, respect for Piedmontese traditions, from long ageing to the use of large Slavonian oak barrels for refinement, not the secrets but the modus operandi handed down through generations that allows Giuseppe Rinaldi wines to be unique and unmistakable, unquestionable points of reference in the production of Piedmontese wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Giuseppe Rinaldi - Via Monforte, 3, 12060 Barolo CN. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
