TASTING NOTES

Radical and free. These are the two words with which Armin summarizes his philosophy and that of the Morandell winery, which is located above Lake Caldaro, in Trentino. The vineyards are cultivated between 200 and 500 metres in a unique microclimate, and completely different soils ranging from glacial gravels to the typical red loam. Sustainability and contact with nature are his leitmotif and his "only" 4 wines have, in addition to the minimum environmental impact, the butterfly as a link, which is the company’s symbol. Lake Caldaro Delia is a Trentino red wine made with only Schiava grapes, locally called Vernatsch, coming from approximately 50-year-old vines, on gravelly soils. Harvested in the second ten days of September, the bunches are fermented in steel vats before maturation in large wooden barrels for a short period. A splendid ruby red, it has an excellent combination of floral notes such as rose and violet and those of currants and raspberries. The finish is reminiscent of almond. In the mouth it is juicy, velvety and easy to drink. A wine for every day, we recommend it paired with cured meats and cheeses typical of the area of origin. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Morandell

The small farm of Weingut Morandell overlooks the shores of Lake Kaltern, in the heart of South Tyrol. Its objective has been clear since its foundation: a few quality wines, careful and rigorous production, and great respect for the terroir and the characteristics of the host terrain. The privileged position of its vineyards varies from two hundred to five hundred metres above sea level, resulting in a very interesting variety of microclimates, which adds diversity and depth to the vineyards. The quality of the soil varies from lime gravel to red soil; all these different elements are carefully studied, and the growth of the grapes is monitored at all times in order to create Alto Adige wines of the highest quality. Careful and constant work, handed down from generation to generation and carried on with passion, to ensure that you discover the authentic taste of South Tyrolean wines in every glass. Name and address of producer/distributor: Morandell - St. Josef am See, 39052 Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino (BZ). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
