TASTING NOTES

Production

Friulano San Pietro comes from 60-year-old vineyards in Rosazzo, in the Colli Orientali, specifically from that part of Galea planted with Tocai Verde, a biotype of Tocai that differs from the yellow variety (more noble and destined for the two crus Galea and Brazan) due to its greater aromatic intensity. The production process takes place in stainless steel, where the wine rests on the fine lees for between six and eight months. 100 ml: E = 330 kJ 79 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

The nose evokes wildflowers and herbs: a subtle, almost smoky nose, with a hint of reduction. The palate is similarly full-bodied, complex and flavourful, with a nutty finish typical of the grape variety.

Occasion and Pairing

The delicacy of this white wine makes it a wine that can be enjoyed every day, pairing perfectly with fish and shellfish dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

THE WINERY

I Clivi

The story of the Il Convento farm is the realisation of a dream. After years of hard work spent in the fields owned by the Franciscan friars of Sorrento, farmer Antonio Pollio proudly took over the property. Handing down the respect for nature and the land from generation to generation, the Pollio family has been dedicated to the cultivation of the famous Sorrento lemons since 1935, the skin of which is used to make a unique limoncello. The Pollio family's link with the friars of the convent is one of the peculiarities of this Campania estate: it seems that the first fruits of the harvest were offered as a gift to the Prior, and that the image of San Francesco was placed on the wine barrels as a sign of protection and good luck. Even today, the utmost attention is still paid to the quality and care of the soil, whose characteristics make it possible to preserve the maximum authenticity of the lemons, particularly the prized “ovale di Sorrento I.G.P.” variety. The result is an intense, fragrant and brightly coloured liqueur, excellent as a digestive or to be enjoyed with a dessert, perhaps a typical Neapolitan one. Name and address of producer/distributor: Il Convento - Via Bagnulo, 10, 80061 Massa Lubrense (NA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
