TASTING NOTES

The history of Ceci begins in 1938, in a tavern a few kilometres from Parma, where, together with cured meats and traditional Emilian dishes, Otello Ceci offered his guests his own wine, made from grapes supplied by local producers. In the 1960s, Ceci’s grandchildren Giovanni and Bruno encouraged their grandfather to convert the tavern into a winery. They saw the potential of their grandfather's Lambrusco, whose style and identity would capture the joy and conviviality of Emilia-Romagna and ensure Ceci wines were appreciated all over the world. Today, the company is managed by Otello's grandchildren and great-grandchildren who, building on their experience, are guiding the winery towards new projects and opportunities. Otello is the flagship wine of the Ceci winery, a Lambrusco produced from the Maestri grape, the most typical variety of Parma. An icon of its kind, this red semi-sparkling wine is the perfect representation of Lambrusco in its most pleasant and convivial form. In the glass it has a full and intense ruby red colour with purplish hints and a soft and persistent mousse. On the nose, it expresses generous notes of blackberry and strawberry jam followed by floral sensations of violet. On the palate it is full-bodied and satisfying, with an excellent texture and softness and a good tannic texture. A synthesis of well-being and conviviality, Otello is a perfect everyday wine and is best paired with first courses and Parmesan cured meats, including anolini in brodo and coppa with torta fritta. Ceci

Deep in the lush green Emilian countryside stands the Ceci winery, born of an ancient passion. Before it was founded, the winery was an inn, the owner of which, Otello, was a great wine connoisseur and enthusiast. The great care and passion he put into his work led him to personally purchase and process the grapes available in the area to produce the Lambrusco he served in his inn. This great passion and knowledge of the terroir, passed down to his children, led to the foundation of the Ceci winery. A company for which knowledge of the raw material and attention to detail are fundamental, right from the very first stages of production. Traditional techniques have been harmoniously combined with more modern ones, contributing to the creation of a special product.
