TASTING NOTES

Production

The history of Tasca d’Almerita in Sicily is written in the land it has tended and passed down for eight generations. The entire range of wines produced by Tasca d’Almerita consistently achieves the highest quality, combining refinement, terroir and typically Sicilian expressiveness. The Chardonnay Vigna San Francesco is a Sicilian white wine made exclusively from 100% Chardonnay grapes. Chardonnay is a very early-ripening variety and in Regaleali it usually reaches maturity between late August and early September. The soil has a normal organic matter content and is rich in minerals, particularly magnesium and potassium, with a good supply of phosphorus. The vines are trained on espaliers, using the double Guyot system. Fermentation takes place in 350-litre French oak barriques, with daily bâtonnage for the first 10–15 days whilst the skins remain in contact with the wine; this is then carried out weekly for the remaining 8 months of ageing in small oak. Organoleptic Characteristics

It is golden yellow in colour; on the nose, it is an explosion of yellow-fleshed fruit, exotic fruits, banana, citron, pineapple, and sweet spices such as cinnamon, vanilla, white pepper and honey. On the palate, it is rich and intense, complex, harmonious and with a very long finish.

Occasion and Pairing

It is perfect for a Sunday lunch and paired with cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.

THE WINERY

Tasca d'Almerita

For nearly four centuries, the Tedeschi winery has established itself as one of the most renowned wineries in Veneto, particularly dedicated to the production of Valpolicella. By adopting innovative production methods, this wine, along with other important labels of red, such as Amarone, is interpreted by the family by remaining faithful to tradition but at the same time keeping up with modernity. Managed with care and passion by Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo, the Tedeschi winery's vineyards cover 46 hectares, all owned by the winery, for which zoning and characterisation work began in 2010. Here, meticulous research is done every day to try to achieve the perfect combination of soil characteristics, microclimate, exposure, cropping system and cultivated variety. The results of so much attention are perfect grapes that each have a story to tell. Tedeschi winery wines are known for their strong personality, carefully balanced by powerful elegance. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tedeschi - Via Giuseppe Verdi, 4/a, 37029 Pedemonte di Valpolicella (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
