TASTING NOTES

Production

The Lunae winery as we know it today was founded in 1966 by Paolo Bosoni, who, together with his brother Lucio, began producing wine after inheriting the farm from their family. The name Lunae is inspired by the city of Luni, an ancient Etruscan and Greek port. The Colli di Luni area represents the easternmost corner of the region, stretching between the Gulf of La Spezia and the Apuan Alps. The area’s microclimate is perfect for producing quality wines. The vineyards consist mainly of small plots, around 2–3 hectares each, with a total of about 45 plots, each with completely different soils that give the wine its distinctive characteristics. Vermentino is the most widespread grape variety, alongside native varieties such as Albarola, Vermentino Nero, Malvasia, Pollera Nera and Massareta. Lunae’s Colli di Luni Vermentino DOC is a Ligurian white wine, made from 100% Vermentino. It is aged for a few months in stainless steel, allowing for a pleasant, immediate drinking experience. Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it presents a very bright straw-yellow colour. On the nose, it releases aromas of fresh fruit, Renetta apple and floral notes, reminiscent of lime blossom. The palate is smooth and elegant, starting with a pleasant freshness before finishing with a savoury aftertaste and a hint of bitterness.

Occasion and Pairing

This white wine is ideal for everyday drinking; it pairs well with fish and shellfish, and is excellent with Badalucca-style stockfish.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.

THE WINERY

Lunae Bosoni

The Lungarotti winery in the heart of Umbria, founded at that time by Giorgio Lungarotti, has stood since the 1960s. Determined from the outset to exploit the enormous potential of the local territory and its climate for the production of Umbrian wines of extraordinary quality, the family now produces from vineyards covering 250 hectares, using modern and innovative techniques. The almost obsessive care that has always been practised in the winery is evident in every process and also in the welcome given to visitors. Here, excellence is taken care of down to the smallest detail. Hence the immense quality of the red wines produced, such as the best known Rubesco, Riserva Vigna Monticchio, Sagrantino, Montefalco Rosso and San Giorgio, but also the white wines that the winery offers, such as Torre di Giano, Aurente and Vigna Il Pino. But the sublime taste and aroma of the products also derives from another factor. In fact, production has always been carried out with the utmost respect for the land, with certified organic cultivation. The defence of the land and its biodiversity has always been the focus of attention. No chemical fertilisers or herbicides are used, only organic products. The soil is always managed so as not to stress it and the plants growing in it. There is also constant study to adapt to climate change as quickly as possible and sustainable energy production techniques such as photovoltaic panels. In short, everything from production to packaging takes place and is done with the utmost respect for the environment and sustainability. Name and address of producer/distributor: Lungarotti - Viale Giorgio Lungarotti, 2, 06089 Torgiano PG. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
