TASTING NOTES

The Lunae winery, as it is known today, was founded in 1966 by Paolo Bosoni, who began to produce wine with his brother Lucio after inheriting the farm from the family. The name Lunae is inspired by the town of Luni, an ancient Etruscan and Greek port. The Colli di Luni area is in the easternmost corner of the region, extending between the Gulf of La Spezia and the Apuan Alps. The microclimate of the area is perfectly suited to the production of quality wines. The vineyards mainly consist of small plots, measuring roughly two to three hectares, around 45 in total, with completely different soils that give the wine peculiar characteristics. Vermentino is the most widespread variety, together with native vines such as Albarola, Vermentino Nero, Malvasia, Pollera Nera and Massareta. Lunae’s Colli di Luni Vermentino DOC is a Ligurian white wine made purely from Vermentino. It matures for a few months in stainless steel, to ensure the pleasant drinkability of the wine. In the glass it has a straw yellow colour, and a delicate note of floral aromas, hawthorn and citrus fruit aromas emerges on the nose. On the palate it is light, characteristically sapid, with an excellent fresh drinkability. This ideal everyday wine goes well with fish and shellfish, particularly the traditional Ligurian cappon magro dish of seafood and vegetables. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Lunae Bosoni

In the Lunigiana area, in the province of La Spezia and on the border with Tuscany, is the Lunae Bosoni winery. Founded in 1970 by the family of Paolo Bosoni, who had dedicated himself to viticulture since 1966 to enhance the excellence of native Ligurian wines, it is one of the most important wineries in the region. The reputation of the winery's products is due to several factors. First and foremost, the terroir provides character to Lunae Bosone wines. With its 45 hectares, divided between various vineyards that occupy no more than 2 or 3, the estate occupies areas that stretch from the plains to the mountains, passing through hilly areas. The Apuan Alps are in fact what protects against cold northern winds, while the proximity to the sea guarantees excellent ventilation and temperature range. Everything contributes to the production of white wines of enormous quality, Vermentino in particular, to which other indigenous cultivations such as Albarola, Malvasia, Vermentino Nero, Massareta and Pollera Nera have been added. But it doesn't end there: it is not only the varied composition of the vineyard soils, with traces of marble from the Alps in the area, olive groves, and Mediterranean climate and scrub, that guarantee the specificity of the wines produced here. Another important factor is the use of natural growing techniques, eliminating herbicides and using natural fertilisers, harvesting the grapes by hand and making a careful selection by tasting. Everything is aimed at respecting the land and its biodiversity and preserving the indigenous tradition, putting decades of passion into every step of the production process. Name and address of producer/distributor: Lunae Bosoni - Via Palvotrisia, 2, 19030 Castelnuovo Magra SP. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
