TASTING NOTES

The Peppoli is a dry red wine produced at the Peppoli estate, part of the Chianti Classico DOCG. Peppoli Estate, located in the heart of Chianti Classico in the Tuscany region, is one of the winemakers owned by the Antinori family. The Antinori family has vast tradition and its history has been intertwined with Italian viticulture for centuries. Today, the Antinori family celebrates the 26th generation of winegrowers since Giovanni di Piero Antinori first joined the Arte dei Vinattieri in 1385, a Florentine guild founded in 1297 with the aim of protecting those who joined and worked as winemakers. The family has kept these traditions alive over the years, albeit through innovation, not just in production methods but also by expanding their holdings with new estates. With over 600 years of winemaking experience, the Antinori family became owners of the Peppoli Estate in 1985. The company is currently managed by Marchese Piero Antinori, supported by his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, who are all actively involved in the business. Passion, tradition and innovation have always been the hallmarks of Marchesi Antinori, as Marchese Piero Antinori explains: “Our historic roots play a huge role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our creative spirit”. The first Chianti Classico DOCG by Peppoli Estate was produced in 1988 and bears its name. The estate’s vineyards are the perfect terroirs for Sangiovese, the main Tuscan variety. The hilly microclimate and rich mineral soils produce high-quality grapes. The Peppoli Chianti Classico DOCG is made with 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot and Syrah grapes. Each variety is vinified separately and the blend is created before ageing, which, depending on the vintage, takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels or in barriques. This wine has a bright ruby red colour in the glass. There are initial fruit and floral violet notes on the nose and the bouquet is completed by toasted notes derived from the ageing process, alongside hints of balsamic mixed with spicy black pepper and liquorice. Fresh and delicate in the mouth, it has a well-integrated tannic texture and lingering spice sensations. Perfect everyday, it goes well with meat sauce starters, medium-aged cheeses and grilled red meats. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Villa Antinori

Founded in 1928 by Marchese Niccolò Antinori, Antinori wines became the symbol and expression of the Antinori family identity. Villa Antinori is a combination of tradition and evolution, constantly striving for quality and excellence. This philosophy has resulted in fine wines: Villa Antinori Rosso and Villa Antinori Bianchi. The Villa Antinori as Chianti Classico was born in the same year, a wine chosen by Niccolò Antinori to represent the Tuscany identity, which has since been found in the most prestigious wine cellars of embassies, renowned restaurants and hotels. The design on the label depicts Villa del Cigliano, a symbol of the Tuscan territory, linked to the family. In this region with a historical connection to Chianti Classico, a place where tradition and innovation coexist in perfect harmony, Villa Antinori reveals the past, present and future of the Antinori family. The winery was built with locally sourced materials to safeguard the Tuscan territory and landscape. Name and address of producer/distributor: Villa Antinori - via Cassia per Siena, 133 Loc. Bargino, 50026 (FI). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
