TASTING NOTES

Production

Françoise Bedel’s Extra Brut “Jouvence” Champagne is a cuvée of extraordinary energy which, as the name itself suggests, aims to celebrate a sort of “eternal youth” expressed through the rigour of biodynamics. Produced mainly from Pinot Meunier grapes, this wine comes from vines rooted in clay- and marl-rich soils in the Marne Valley. The winemaking process involves spontaneous fermentation and a long ageing on the lees, usually exceeding five years, with an almost imperceptible Extra Brut dosage that preserves the integrity and vertical tension of the palate.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Visually, it presents an intense, golden straw-yellow colour, enhanced by a very fine, lively perlage. The bouquet is a fascinating interplay of freshness and maturity: fragrant notes of candied citrus and apple pulp blend with developed hints of dried fruit, brioche and a distinct chalky minerality. On the palate, ‘Jouvence’ surprises with its dynamism; the attack is clean and vibrant, followed by a broad and deep progression that reveals a rich texture perfectly balanced by a sharp, savoury freshness.

Occasion and Pairing

Thanks to its balance and vigour, it is an extremely versatile Champagne at the table. It is perfect for accompanying flavourful seafood dishes such as a white fish soup or grilled shellfish, but its structure also allows it to hold its own admirably with delicate white meats and medium-aged soft cheeses. It is the ideal choice for those seeking an artisanal sparkling wine capable of combining power with a light, refreshing drinkability.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 8/10°C.

THE WINERY

Francoise Bedel

Francoise Bedel is one of the most authentic and fascinating realities of independent Champagne, a symbol of sensitivity, identity, and a deep connection with nature. Founded in Crouttes-sur-Marne, in the Vallée de la Marne, the house was born as a family expression of an often less celebrated territory, but capable of offering Champagne with great personality and depth. Francoise Bedel's philosophy is based on an intuitive and respectful approach, in which the vine is accompanied according to natural and cosmic rhythms. Vineyards are cultivated following the principles of biodynamics, with extreme attention to the balance between soil, plant and environment. Each intervention is designed to preserve the vitality of the terroir, promoting healthy and harmonious viticulture, capable of expressing the most authentic soul of Champagne. The vineyards are located on clay-limestone soils of the Vallée de la Marne, where Pinot Meunier plays a central role, alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Here, thanks to a favorable microclimate and careful and conscious management, grapes are born rich in character, structure and aromatic complexity. In the cellar, the work follows the same philosophy of respect and precision: spontaneous fermentations, use of indigenous yeasts, long refinements on the yeasts and minimal intervention to preserve the purity and identity of the wine. Francoise Bedel's Champagnes are distinguished by depth, energy, and a strong territorial imprint, with a style that combines intensity, elegance, and a subtle spiritual dimension. Each bottle is the result of an ongoing dialogue between man and nature, a sincere and vibrant expression of the Vallée de la Marne, capable of moving and conveying a free and personal vision of Champagne. Manufacturer name and address: Francoise Bedel – 3 Rue de Chaury, 02310 Crouttes-sur-Marne, France. Wines should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from sources of heat and direct light.
