TASTING NOTES

Production

Maison Henriot is one of the few Champagne houses Champagne that has remained family-run over the years, situated in the centre of the village of Pierry. Maison Henriot’s Champagne Brut Souverain is precise and balanced. It conveys the expression of the great terroirs of Champagne through the balance of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. Comprising over 25 Crus, Champagne Souverain is drawn from the finest terroirs of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, with at least 30% of the House’s reserve wines.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The straw-gold colour is clear and bright in the glass. With a fine, regular perlage, it offers magnificent liveliness on the nose. Citrus notes and a floral bouquet with elderflower and vine blossom; the finish reveals aromas of brioche, lightly toasted bread and roasted almond. On the palate, it is balanced and harmonious with light notes of brioche, which complement the bold flavour of cherry and the sunny character of white peach. Clean on the finish, with all the freshness of hazelnut.

Occasion and Pairing

Its distinctive aromatic profile and lingering finish make it a superb Champagne for an aperitif, or to accompany delicate fish dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this Champagne should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.

THE WINERY

Henriot

Founded in 1808, Maison Henriot is one of the rare family-run Champagne houses with no discontinuity. For over 210 years, the Henriot family has represented the audacity of a Maison that has remained independent. Located in the centre of the village of Pierry, Maison Henriot can boast of some 26 hectares of vines, almost all of which are within Grand Crus parcels. Thanks to the skilful work of the Chef de Cave, Henriot Champagnes enjoy a unique and authentic expression of the best crus and terroir of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Selecting the best Crus, enhancing the purity of the Chardonnay and giving each cuvée the time it needs to mature are the commitments to excellence that express the unique reputation of the Maison and its elegant and complex style. The Henriot family cultivates a special affinity for these wines, which come from sandy soil and where the clay of the Champagne region gives them a minerality and iodine freshness. Champagne Henriot distinguishes a distinctive cuvée selection and an exceptional selection, illustrated by the luminous and pure expression of the great terroirs of the Champagne region, sublimated by the talent of the winegrowers. Name and address of producer/distributor: Champagne Henriot-81, rue Coquebert, 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
