Maison Krug was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug. Today its vintages are considered the best in the world, singularly crafted from a unique terroir and vineyard. The ultimate expression of Champagne. Krug’s Grande Cuvée Brut is made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes and it is aged for 7 years in the French Maison’s wine cellars, improving its expressiveness and elegance. Champagne Krug, which is bright straw yellow in colour, delivers a lively perlage and pleasant notes of ripe fruit such as yellow apple and citrus fruits such as lemon and mandarin. On opening in the glass, the wine reveals floral aromas, followed by spicy notes of marzipan and ginger. On the palate, there are hints of mineral and saline on the finish. Krug Grande Cuvée Brut pairs well with delicate and sophisticated dishes, such as grilled turbot with aged Parmesan cheese and truffle. It can also be enjoyed as an aperitif with ham, or served with oysters, grilled shrimps or with desserts such as carrot cake, tarte tatin or cheesecake.
