TASTING NOTES

Production

Astroni’s Campi Flegrei Falanghina Colle Imperatrice is born on the volcanic hills of the Campi Flegrei, in a unique setting characterised by sandy soils of volcanic origin that give the wine a distinct territorial identity. The Falanghina grapes come from the Colle Imperatrice cru, harvested by hand to preserve their integrity and quality. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a brief maceration on the skins to enhance the aromas and structure. Ageing continues in stainless steel on the fine lees, maintaining the wine’s freshness and highlighting the natural flavour of the grape variety and the terroir. E=100 ml: 308 kJ / 74 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Visually, it is a bright straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. On the nose, it is intense and refined, with aromas of white-fleshed fruit, apple and pear, accompanied by notes of citrus, white flowers and a distinct mineral character of ash and flint. On the palate, it is fresh and vibrant, with a marked savouriness, good structure and a long, persistent finish, characterised by elegant mineral and citrus notes.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine of great personality and terroir, ideal as an aperitif but also perfect throughout a meal. It pairs beautifully with fish dishes, seafood, shellfish, delicate pasta dishes and Mediterranean cuisine.

THE WINERY

Astroni

Cantine Astroni embody the authentic spirit of Campanian winemaking, blending tradition, terroir, and innovation. Located between Naples and the Astroni crater, a natural volcanic reserve, the winery was founded by the Varchetta family with the aim of enhancing the unique potential of the Campi Flegrei area, where vines grow on sandy, mineral-rich volcanic soils. For generations, the family has pursued a vision of mindful viticulture based on environmental respect and the promotion of native grape varieties — first and foremost Falanghina dei Campi Flegrei, along with Piedirosso, Aglianico, and other traditional Campanian cultivars. The vineyards lie on sunlit, breezy slopes overlooking the Gulf of Naples, where the Mediterranean climate and volcanic terrain give the wines freshness, salinity, and a distinctive personality. Cantine Astroni’s philosophy combines oenological expertise with respect for nature: sustainable vineyard practices, spontaneous fermentations, and careful use of technology in the cellar to preserve the integrity of the fruit. Astroni wines tell the story of the truest Campania — with aromas of sea and Mediterranean scrub, vibrant minerality, and the volcanic energy that defines this ancient land. Each bottle expresses the vitality and authenticity of the Campi Flegrei. Producer/distributor name and address: Cantine Astroni - Via Sartania, 48, 80126 Naples (NA), Italy. The cellar products should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.
