TASTING NOTES

Production

Campania Aglianico I Viaggiatori di Astroni is born from selected Aglianico grapes from various suitable areas of Campania, with the aim of expressing a modern and dynamic profile of this great Southern grape variety. Harvesting is manual and winemaking takes place with respect for the raw material, with steel fermentation and macerations careful to extract color, structure and aromas without excess. The aging process continues partly in steel and partly in wood, for a balanced period that allows the wine to soften its tannins while maintaining freshness and territorial identity.

Organoleptic Characteristics

On the nose it is intense and enveloping, with scents of ripe red and black fruits, cherry, plum and blackberry, accompanied by spicy notes, black pepper, Mediterranean herbs and light balsamic nuances. On the palate it is structured and harmonious, with tannins present but well integrated, a good freshness and a long and coherent gustatory persistence, which recalls fruity and spicy sensations.

Occasion and Pairing

Wine of character and versatility, ideal to accompany convivial lunches and dinners but also suitable for more important occasions. It pairs perfectly with red meats, roasts, grilled meats, traditional Campanian dishes, stews and medium-aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To best enhance its structure and expressiveness, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Joaquin

Joaquin is one of the most fascinating and distinctive wineries in Campania, a symbol of authenticity, research, and respect for tradition. Founded by Raffaele Pagano in the early 2000s, the estate was born from a desire to rediscover and enhance the great native grapes of Irpinia and the Vesuvian area, reinterpreting them through an artisanal approach and a deep understanding of the land. The vineyards are located between Montefalcione and Lapio, in the heart of Irpinia, with selected plots also along the Amalfi Coast and the island of Capri. On these clay and volcanic soils, Joaquin crafts wines of remarkable complexity and personality, combining the strength of the Campanian terroir with an unmistakable elegance of style. Joaquin’s production philosophy is based on minimal intervention and maximum respect for the grapes: hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentations, long aging, and no technological shortcuts. Every step, from vineyard to bottle , is guided by the desire to express the truest soul of the land and to celebrate time as a defining value in winemaking. Key grape varieties include Fiano and Greco for whites, Aglianico for reds, along with rare and ancient cultivars that the winery revives with passion. The result is a collection of wines with deep identity, remarkable longevity, and emotional intensity. Each bottle of Joaquin is a liquid tale of Southern Italy, a meeting of history, landscape, and contemporary sensitivity that pays tribute to the greatness of Campanian wine culture. Producer/distributor name and address: Joaquin Azienda Agricola - Via Ciampa di Cavallo, 3, 83030 Montefalcione (AV), Italy.
