Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia is produced in the vineyards of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, situated along the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri, in a region characterised by soils of alluvial and marine origin, ideal for the cultivation of international grape varieties. The blend comprises Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, harvested by hand and vinified separately by plot and variety. Fermentation takes place in steel and concrete tanks, with careful maceration to preserve balance and elegance. Ageing takes place for around a year in French oak barriques, partly new and partly second-use, followed by further ageing in the bottle, which completes the wine’s harmony.
On the nose, it is intense and refined, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, vanilla, cocoa and light balsamic undertones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with silky, well-integrated tannins, good freshness and a balanced structure leading to a long, elegant and persistent finish.
A wine of great class and versatility, ideal for accompanying important lunches and dinners but also perfect for sophisticated social occasions. It pairs beautifully with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, light game, Tuscan cuisine and mature cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
