TASTING NOTES

Production

A wine that epitomises the Langhe tradition, Barolo Falletto is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the renowned Falletto cru, situated in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba. Vinification follows a rigorous, classic style: traditional fermentation, long maceration on the skins and extended ageing in large oak barrels. The aim is to preserve the identity of the terroir and the wine’s longevity, without resorting to technical interventions.

Organoleptic Characteristics

It has an intense garnet-red colour, with orange hues that emerge with ageing. The bouquet is complex and deep: notes of wilted rose, violet, ripe cherry and plum, followed by tertiary aromas of liquorice, tobacco, sweet spices, leather and undergrowth. On the palate, it is structured, austere and elegant. The tannins are pronounced but finely integrated, supported by good freshness. The finish is long and persistent, with spicy and balsamic notes.

Occasion and Pairing

It pairs perfectly with rich, structured dishes from traditional cuisine such as braised and roasted red meats, game (wild boar, hare, venison) or truffle risotto.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.

THE WINERY

Giacosa Bruno

A meticulous search to find the perfect vineyard has led to the rise of Gianfranco Fino's winery, which began in 2004. Taking into account precise characteristics that could give his wine a unique personality, the choice fell on a fifty-year-old Primitivo vineyard in Puglia. Gradually, with the intention of protecting old vineyards and keeping their uniqueness alive, Gianfranco Fino's holdings have expanded to include vineyards between 50 and 90 years old, lying on red soil and rocky outcrops. Together with his wife Simona, he takes great care and attention with each vine, from which he ensures a low yield in order to preserve its exceptional nature. In the Gianfranco Fini winery, interventions are kept to a minimum, favouring only those essential to the natural enhancement of the product, in which the strong territorial identity is inherent. Gianfranco's hard work has been repaid with the great recognition obtained by his Es Primitivo di Manduria Doc, an excellent red wine, and by the title of best Apulian company obtained just a few years after he started his business. Name and address of producer/distributor: Gianfranco Fino - contrada Lella, sn, 74024 Manduria (TA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
