Aldo Conterno's Barolo Cicala was born in the cru of the same name located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, one of the most suitable and historic areas of the Barolo appellation. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards cultivated with low yields on calcareous-clayey soils, capable of giving the wine great structure, depth and longevity. The harvest is manual and the winemaking follows the most rigorous tradition of the winery: steel fermentation with long macerations on the skins, without forcing. The aging takes place for several years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a long aging in the bottle that completes the evolution of the wine.
It appears to be a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it is deep, austere and extremely complex, with scents of ripe cherry, plum and small red fruits, accompanied by notes of withered rose, licorice, fine spices, tobacco, undergrowth and light balsamic and mineral nuances. On the palate it is powerful and structured, with dense and noble tannins, a vibrant freshness and a deep and rigorous taste texture. The finale is very long, persistent and harmonious, with extraordinary elegance and the ability to evolve over time.
Iconic barolo with great longevity, ideal for important occasions and for moments of conscious tasting. It pairs beautifully with red meats, braised meats, game, structured dishes of Piedmontese tradition and aged cheeses.
To best enhance its structure, complexity and elegance, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
