Aldo Conterno's Barolo Bussia Colonnello was born in the historic MGA Bussia, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, one of the most suitable and prestigious areas of the Barolo appellation. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes from the Colonnello vineyard, characterized by calcareous-clayey soils that give the wine great structure, depth and elegance. The harvest is manual and the winemaking follows the classic and rigorous style of the winery: steel fermentation with prolonged macerations on the skins, aimed at extracting complexity and finesse. The aging takes place for about two years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a further period in the bottle that allows the wine to achieve full harmony and balance.
It appears to be a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it is broad and complex, with scents of ripe cherry, plum and berries, accompanied by notes of withered rose, purple, licorice, fine spices, tobacco and delicate balsamic nuances. On the palate it is powerful yet elegant, with dense and well-integrated tannins, a vibrant freshness and a deep and coherent flavor texture. The ending is long, persistent and harmonious, with great personality and longevity.
Barolo of great prestige and character, ideal for important occasions and for moments of conscious tasting. It pairs beautifully with important red meats, braised meats, roasts, game, structured dishes of Piedmontese tradition and aged cheeses.
To best enhance its structure, elegance and complexity, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
