Aldo Conterno's Barolo Bussia Cicala was born in the historic MGA Bussia, in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, one of the most prestigious and well-known territories of the Barolo appellation. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes from the Cicala vineyard, characterized by mineral-rich calcareous-clayey soils, capable of giving the wine structure, elegance and great longevity. Harvesting is manual and winemaking takes place in the classic and rigorous style of the winery: steel fermentation with prolonged maceration on the skins to extract complexity and finesse. The aging takes place for about two years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a further period in the bottle that completes the evolution of the wine.
It appears to be a deep ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it is deep and elegant, with scents of ripe cherry, plum and small red fruits, accompanied by notes of withered rose, licorice, fine spices, tobacco and light balsamic and mineral nuances. On the palate it is structured and harmonious, with dense but refined tannins, a vibrant freshness and a solid and coherent taste texture. The ending is long, persistent and of great finesse, with a remarkable capacity for evolution over time.
Barolo of great class and longevity, ideal for important occasions and moments of conscious tasting. It pairs beautifully with red meats, braised meats, roasts, game, structured dishes of Piedmontese tradition and aged cheeses.
To best enhance its structure and elegance, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
