TASTING NOTES

Production

Bussia is produced using the traditional method: long maceration on the skins, natural fermentation on indigenous yeasts for 40 days in stainless steel tanks. Ageing then takes place in stainless steel tanks for 6 months, followed by 30 months in large-capacity Slavonian oak barrels. Further ageing in the bottle follows.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The colour is an intense garnet red and the aroma is delicate and pleasant, with intense notes of spiced rose and liquorice. The flavour is dry, warm, full-bodied and balanced, with pronounced tannins and a lingering aftertaste.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine particularly suited to ageing. Barolo Bussia, with its structure and body, pairs well with meat dishes, game and mature cheeses, typical local dishes, as well as many rich international dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Giacomo Fenocchio

Founded in 1864, the Fenocchios are a family from Monforte di Bussia, winegrowers for generations. Thanks to Giacomo in the 1970s, the family-run winery was able to develop and expand its production range, while maintaining the strong tradition of careful work in the vineyards and long winemaking with the use of large barrels in the wine cellar. The property extends over 4 hectares of south-west-facing vineyards on clay and limestone soils, rich in iron, which manage to give elegance and delicate tones to the typical Nebbiolo grape. The farm is not currently certified organic, but is based on the principles of sustainability aimed at reducing its environmental impact. All this has led Claudio to make wine with a sure hand, without consulting and in the traditional way, reducing cellar interventions to a minimum and obtaining sincere wines that respect the terroir and the vintage. Name and address of producer/distributor: Azienda Agricola Giacomo Fenocchio - Loc. Bussia, 72 - 12065 Monforte D'Alba (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
