Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia by Giacomo Conterno was born in the historic Francia vineyard, located in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, from which the winery derives some of its most iconic expressions. Barbera grapes come from selected plots, grown in very low yields and with great attention to vineyard work. The harvest is manual and the winemaking follows the traditional principles of the winery: fermentation with macerations on the skins in vats, without technological forcing. The aging takes place in large oak barrels, where the wine matures slowly, acquiring depth and complexity while maintaining the typical varietal freshness.
On the nose it expresses itself with intense aromas of ripe red fruit, cherry and black cherry, accompanied by notes of plum, sweet spices and light balsamic nuances. On the palate it is rich and enveloping, with a marked acidity that supports the structure, tannins present but well integrated and a long gustatory persistence. The sip is full, energetic and balanced, with a juicy and deep finish.
Wine of great character and versatility, suitable for both important lunches and more informal convivial moments. It pairs perfectly with traditional Piedmontese dishes, pasta with ragù, red meats, roasts, cured meats and aged cheeses.
To best appreciate its balance and aromatic intensity, a serving temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
