TASTING NOTES

Production

Costasera Amarone della Valpolicella is produced from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. Fermentation takes place after approximately 120 days of drying the grapes on bamboo racks. The resulting wine is aged for 24 months, 80% in large casks and the remaining 20% in barriques, followed by 4 months in the bottle before release. 100 ml: E=406 kJ/97 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

On the nose, it releases all its aromas, which unfold with notes of ripe cherry, stewed plum, roasted coffee, milk chocolate and faint hints of cinnamon. On the palate, it is extremely well-balanced, with no intrusiveness from the alcohol and soft, velvety tannins. It finishes with a long, lingering aftertaste.

Occasion and Pairing

This is a fine Venetian red wine, perfect for Sunday family lunches, presenting a very deep ruby red colour in the glass. A wine for rich, flavourful dishes, to be enjoyed with game or mature cheeses, even spicy ones.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Masi

The north of Sardinia, an uncontaminated land where wind, sun and sea reign supreme, is home to the Masone Mannu farm. The beauty of this place captivated the owner of Tenuta Mara, in Romagna, convincing him to also acquire this winery in 2018. Since then, a process of conversion to biodynamic farming has begun, with the aim of further enhancing the uniqueness of the land. In the local dialect, the name Masone Mannu means “large estate” and well describes the 60 hectares of the farm that extend into the heart of Gallura, framed by granite reliefs, rivers, oaks and typical Mediterranean maquis species. 19 hectares are planted with vines, whose yields are kept deliberately low and interventions limited, favouring manual and natural processing. The same principles are also adopted within the Masone Mannu winery. The different stages of production are supervised by an expert team of technicians: from fermentation in stainless steel tanks to maturation in wooden barrels, each step gives the final product well-calibrated aromatic characteristics. In addition to Vermentino, for which the area is particularly suited, Masone Mannu wines also include other prized white wines from Sardinia, such as Malvasia, as well as reds such as Cannonau. Name and address of producer/distributor: Masone Mannu - Canale SS 199 – 07020 MONTI (OT). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
