TASTING NOTES

Production

Tommasi’s Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is made from Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes and is aged for 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, in keeping with the ancient tradition of producing wines from dried grapes, so that the wine does not absorb excessive amounts of woody aromas.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it presents a very intense, almost dark ruby red colour. On the nose, ripe fruit and cherries preserved in alcohol are pleasantly striking, supported by balsamic hints and slightly toasted notes. On the palate, it is a warm and complex wine. A rich, textured and deep mouthfeel accompanies the finish with a pleasant persistence that rounds off the palate, making this wine one of the most interesting examples of its appellation.

Occasion and Pairing

Elegance and structure make Tommasi’s Amarone della Valpolicella perfect with game, red meats and mature cheeses. It is the ideal companion for long conversations.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Tommasi

The history of the Tonello family is characterized by a true bond between family and wine tradition. The winery is managed by his father Antonio and his daughter Diletta, who with soul and heart for the company and for the territory carry on the family tradition. The company covers 12 hectares of vineyards between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona, cultivated according to the organic regime with Garganega and Durella grapes, which in this volcanic soil express a savory mineral character, making the wines unique and long-lived. Tonello produces Metodo Classico and Durella in a firm version: autochthonous vine of the Lessini Mountains is an ancient and rustic vine that gives golden grapes with a typical acidulous taste and a skin rich in tannin, giving a unique personality. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Cantina Tonello - Via Corcironda 6, 36050 - Montorso Vicentino (VI). The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
