THE WINERY

Stachlburg

Dominating the Vinschgau Valley, an area of growing interest for the production of high-quality South Tyrolean wines, is the imposing Stachlburg Castle. Built in the 12th century, it has been inherited over time by various noble Tyrolean families, to become the home of the renowned Stachlburg winery in 1990, run by Baron Sigmund Kripp. The vineyards of the Stachlburg estate rise on warm, sunny slopes, 650 meters above sea level, where mild air, southern exposure and deep, humus-rich soil favour perfect ripening of the grapes. The different varieties grown, from Pinot Noir to Chardonnay, are all treated with equal care in an effort to transfer the uniqueness of their host territory into the bottle. Tradition and avant-garde are the key words in the management of the Stachlburg winery. Indeed, the winery has embraced the principles of organic farming, respecting nature, people and the environment, as Sigmund Kripp himself points out. These cornerstones are complemented by the use of modern vinification techniques through which elegant, fresh and harmonious red and white wines are obtained. Name and address of producer/distributor: Stachlburg - via Peter-Mitterhofer 2, 39020 Parcines (BZ). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
