TASTING NOTES

Production

Le Petit Alto Adige Val Venosta Pinot Nero DOC is a red wine made from the pure vinification of the eponymous grape variety. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery and gently pressed. The maceration takes place at a low temperature in stainless steel containers for about 4 days.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it presents a medium-intensity ruby red color. On the nose, there are immediately many notes of small red fruits—currants, raspberries, strawberries—along with vegetal hints and touches of leather. On the palate, it is elegant and fresh, thanks to its acidity and silky, fine tannins.

Occasion and Pairing

In the same tanks, fermentation follows, and the wine is then aged in small wood. It is perfect for daily enjoyment and pairs well with red meats, especially with beef fillets and roasts.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 14-16°C.

THE WINERY

Stachlburg

Dominating the Vinschgau Valley, an area of growing interest for the production of high-quality South Tyrolean wines, is the imposing Stachlburg Castle. Built in the 12th century, it has been inherited over time by various noble Tyrolean families, to become the home of the renowned Stachlburg winery in 1990, run by Baron Sigmund Kripp. The vineyards of the Stachlburg estate rise on warm, sunny slopes, 650 meters above sea level, where mild air, southern exposure and deep, humus-rich soil favour perfect ripening of the grapes. The different varieties grown, from Pinot Noir to Chardonnay, are all treated with equal care in an effort to transfer the uniqueness of their host territory into the bottle. Tradition and avant-garde are the key words in the management of the Stachlburg winery. Indeed, the winery has embraced the principles of organic farming, respecting nature, people and the environment, as Sigmund Kripp himself points out. These cornerstones are complemented by the use of modern vinification techniques through which elegant, fresh and harmonious red and white wines are obtained.
