TASTING NOTES

Production

Short maceration on the skins with natural sedimentation. Malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging for 15 months occur in large oak barrels, in a 3,000-liter oak cask on the fine lees. Finally, the wine enjoys an additional 6 months of stabilization in the bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

We have a white wine of structure and personality, which is already evident on the nose with energetic, intense, and layered aromas, initially focused on fruity and floral notes and then shifting towards softer hints of honey and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full and elegant, with a round and persistent mouthfeel, featuring a pleasant acidity that does not disrupt but rather supports and amplifies the typical elegance of the grape variety.

Occasion and Pairing

Thanks to its elegance and rich flavor-aroma profile, it can certainly serve as an excellent opening for the evening, perfect for an aperitif with friends. It is also well-suited to accompany fish dishes, even elaborate ones, as well as white meats and poultry. Its ideal pairing remains with medium-aged cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

THE WINERY

Hofstatter

The Hofstatter Winery is a historical symbol of Alto Adige, guarded by the imposing walls of a 16th century building in the province of Bolzano. The Hofstatter vineyards stretch across the eastern and western sides of the Etschtal, finding a home on soils with different characteristics and microclimates. It was precisely because of this peculiarity that in 1987, for the first time in this region, they were able to introduce the designation “Vigna” for seven of their wines. Heir to an ancient family of winegrowers, Martin Foradori continues to pursue Hofstatter's core objective to this day: to harmonise the centuries-old, unique tradition of their land with an eye for innovation. In fact, the immense heritage of the Hofstatter estate has not precluded the use of modern technology to create a state-of-the-art winery, where new, low-energy concrete barrels are housed. The exceptional finesse of Hofstatter wines confirms that this goal is achieved year after year, yielding sublime examples of both whites, such as the renowned Gewürztraminer, and reds, such as Pinot Noir, that are recognised even beyond Italian borders. Name and address of producer/distributor: Hofstatter - Rathausplatz 7 - 39040 Tramin BZ. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
