TASTING NOTES

The Allegrini company is certainly an illustrious name in Italy and one of the most historic in Valpolicella. Right from the start a very young Giovanni Allegrini showed great skills in vinification but also particular attention to the vineyard. His children Franco and Marilisa took over the business after his death in 1983. The winery is located in Fumane, on the outskirts of Verona, in the heart of Valpolicella, one of the most prestigious and interesting areas on the Italian wine scene and producer of the famous Amarone della Valpolicella. It is located in the western Veneto region, between Verona and Lake Garda, bordered to the north by the Lessini Mountains and covers an area of about 240 km² with a vineyard area of about 6,000 ha. Unlike Amarone and Ripasso, La Grola does not undergo partial drying of the grapes as per tradition, but after the harvest it undergoes fermentation in stainless steel and subsequent ageing in second-passage French oak barriques for 16 months and in bottles for a further 10 months. It comes from a selection of Corvina Veronese and Oseleta grapes grown at an altitude of approximately 300 metres. It is a full-bodied, intense and elegant red wine from Veneto. Ruby red in colour, it displays a very wide range from hints of red berries to juniper, and final notes of tobacco and coffee. In the mouth, the palate is full, dry and has an incredible elegance afforded by skilful ageing in the wine cellar. Perfect for all kinds of occasions, it is best paired with red meat. THE WINERY

Allegrini

Allegrini is the leading producer of Valpolicella Classica, and is one of the most award-winning and recognised Italian wineries in the world. Owned by the Allegrini family, settled in Valpolicella since the 16th century, the company has over 100 hectares of vineyards on the hills of the Classica area. While maintaining its family-run production rooted in tradition, it is also open to innovation and very attentive to respect for the environment. Barriques are used alongside large traditional barrels, and research into the best timing for the grapes results in a final product where the raw material expresses the best of itself. You can enjoy some of the best Veneto wines around with the guarantee of a quality product where tradition and innovation come together to create a unique taste. Allegrini products are made exclusively with the grapes grown in the vineyards owned by the family, cultivated and cared for with full respect for the land and traditions. Name and address of producer/distributor: Allegrini - Via Giare 9/11 - 37022 Fumane VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
