TASTING NOTES

Matelica Vertis Verdicchio takes its name from the Latin "vertere" and means the highest point. Vertis is the highest expression of the grape variety: obtained from grapes from the most long-lived vineyards, about twenty years, with southern exposure and placed on clay-calcareous soils. The 100% Verdicchio grapes, after being carefully harvested at the beginning of October, are gently pressed; then the must ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks where it remains for the optimal period of aging which is equivalent to 8 months, before resting further 4 months in the bottle before being put on sale. The color is bright straw yellow with slight greenish nuances. The nose is broad and complex. Immediately emerge notes of apple and yellow flowers, then leave room for fresher scents of aromatic herbs, hay and mineral hints. In the mouth it is straightforward, with an excellent sapidity and freshness that make it very pleasing, the finish is long and persistent. This white from Marche is ideal for everyday consumption. Perfect is the matching with fish and shellfish. To fully appreciate the style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 10/12 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Borgo Paglianetto

In an area like Matelica, in the province of Macerata, where vines seem to have existed since Roman times, the presence of a winery like Borgo Paglianetto, producer of fine wines from the Marche region, is not surprising. The 25 hectares of Borgo Paglianetto, spread over the hills between Fabriano and Camerino, enjoy an ideal microclimate for growing grapes of enormous quality. In fact, the winery is located in the Upper Esino Valley, an enclosed valley 300 metres above sea level, where the rhythms of nature are respected and the most modern processing technologies contribute to the production of fresh, deep, remarkably flavourful and aromatically balanced wines. The Verdicchio DOC and DOCG stands out among these. Lastly, the company has recently begun a process of exalting quality in combination with the utmost respect for nature, thanks to organic cultivation, vinification and processing. In this way, Borgo wants to reduce its environmental impact through a reduced use of chemical products or those containing sulphites. Every innovation is always aimed at maintaining the intrinsic identity of the white wines from the Marche region produced here, an expression of the territory of origin and the passion of the owners and workers. Name and address of producer/distributor: Borgo Paglianetto - Località Pagliano, 393, 62024 Matelica MC. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
