TASTING NOTES

Tenuta dell'Ugolino is located in the Marche municipality of Castelplanio, within the oldest and most dedicated area in which the DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi is produced, which can boast the words Classico on its label. Verdicchio is one of Italy's most important white grape varieties and is characterised by its ageing capacity and versatility. The Tenuta dell'Ugolino, owned by the Petrini family and founded in the early 1980s, lies in this unique territory. From the very beginning, the company has followed the dictates of production to create quality wines, through special care of the vineyards, which now cover 8 hectares, as well as through manual harvesting. It is from this passion for their territory that the company's wines originate, including Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC Vigneto del Balluccio. This wine made from 100% Verdicchio grapes comes from a single vineyard with predominantly clay soil: the Cru del Balluccio. It can also bear the indication Superiore since it is obtained from a vineyard where the grapes yield is lower than usual, thus giving it a higher value. Verdicchio Vigneto del Balluccio reveals a straw colour and greenish reflections in the glass. Resting in stainless steel for 8 months and then in the bottle for 4 months gives it an intensity of aromas on the palate and vivid scents: from yellow-fleshed fruit to fennel and sage, with floral notes and a typically almondy finish. Medium-bodied, it is balanced on the palate, with good freshness and full flavour, pleasantly persistent. This white wine from Marche is ideal with semi-mature cheeses and fish or shellfish dishes. THE WINERY

Tenuta dell'Ugolino

The farm where Tenuta di Nozzole is located dates back to the 1300s, but was purchased by the Folonari family and restored to its former glory only in the early 1970s. Since then, family commitment and passion have been combined with two fundamental elements: the oldest techniques, carried on by generations of local winemakers, and the most recent innovations in the field. All to ensure a production process aimed at excellence, to offer Tuscan wines of excellence. The more than three hundred hectares of land on which the farm stands are partly planted with specialised vineyards and, to a lesser extent, olive groves. The estate is located in the municipality of Greve, Tuscany. To be precise, it is located in the Chianti area. It is no coincidence that the company's major production is based precisely on the creation of a Chianti Classico capable of representing the most authentic side of this region in every glass. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tenuta di Nozzole - Via di Nozzole, 12, 50022 Greve in Chianti (FI). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
