TASTING NOTES

Production

The Castelli di Jesi area is a series of amphitheatres overlooking the sea on gently rolling hills. The ancient white grape variety Verdicchio has found an ideal environment here, cradled by the breezes that move from the Adriatic Sea towards the Apennines and the currents that descend from the mountains towards the sea. The DOC encompasses 24 municipalities in the provinces of Ancona and Macerata around the town of Jesi, traditionally known as ‘castelli’ (castles) as they were fortified centres during the Middle Ages. Villa Bucci’s Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore is a dry white wine produced exclusively from Verdicchio grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand, with an initial selection in the vineyard and a second in the cellar. The grapes are gently pressed, and only the first pressing is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 6 months on the lees in large barrels before leaving the cellar. 100 ml: 309 kJ/75 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Deep yellow in colour, with clear aromas of fresh fruit and white flowers on the nose, supported by citrus notes and white pepper. On the palate, it is dry and smooth with lively acidity.

Occasion and Pairing

A Marche white wine to enjoy every day. It pairs well with fish-based first courses featuring mackerel, salmon, tuna and shellfish such as prawns, crab and shrimp. Try it also with white meats such as veal, pork and chicken. Excellent with salads and side dishes too.
