TASTING NOTES

The area of the castles of Jesi is a set of amphitheatres overlooking the sea on gently sloping hills. The ancient white berry variety Verdicchio has found an ideal environment here, pampered by the breezes that drift from the Adriatic Sea towards the Apennines and the currents that descend from the mountains towards the sea. The DOC includes 24 municipalities between the provinces of Ancona and Macerata around the town of Jesi and traditionally called castles because they were fortified centres during the Middle Ages. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva is a dry white wine produced solely from Verdicchio grapes. This is the Bucci family's flagship wine, the fruit comes from their best plots over 40 years old, harvested when at the perfect stage of maturation and strictly by hand. Soft pressing of the grapes and must fermented in stainless steel. Ageing takes place for one year in large Slavonian barrels and one year in the bottle. Yellow in colour with golden reflections. On the nose, fruit gives way to notes of almond, wild herbs and thyme. Aromas of spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg and a hint of hydrocarbon on the finish. On the mouth, it is full and enveloping with a soft, creamy body that accentuates notes of butter and hazelnut. It stays fresh for a long time. To be enjoyed with family or friends at the weekend or to celebrate an important evening. To accompany white meats such as cotoletta alla Milanese, lemon chicken breast and pork ribs. THE WINERY

Villa Bucci

The Bucci farm, located in the Marche region, has been dedicated to agriculture and the production of high-quality wines since the 1700s. Out of a total surface of over 350 hectares under cultivation, 25 hectares are covered with vineyards, including red grape varieties such as Montepulciano and Sangiovese. For more than 20 years, Villa Bucci has embraced natural farming, with great attention to safeguarding the surrounding environment both in the production of their traditional wines and in the yearly production of 20–25 quintals of extra virgin olive oil from their own olive groves. Villa Bucci offers prestigious wines, the result of a combination of tradition and innovation, together with careful cultivation and processing of the grapes. Villa Bucci is renowned for its meticulous wine production, including Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Rosso Piceno, true expressions of the surrounding terroir and of the fine red wines and white wines of the Marche region.
