Vitovska di Skerlj is born in the small village of Sales, in a unique and spectacular landscape where rock, sea, wind and mountains coexist in a grumpy and harsh nature. The minerality is the most characteristic element that identifies Skerlj wines and that baptizes them as pure karst breed. The earth is worked without chemical elements, growing naturally, intact and preserving all its vital characteristics. The cellar continues in the same way, with few interventions, leaving nature to carry out its cycles: spontaneous vinification, long maceration on the skins and aging of at least 24 months in wooden barrels kept in the cellar dug into the rock. The result of Skerlj Vitovska Riserva is an orange wine with a frank and typical profile that portrays all the nuances of the Italian Karst. It is orange in colour, with golden hues, slightly cloudy due to the absence of filtration processes. The bouquet is very varietal, marked by notes of apricot, orange peel, iodine nuances, echoes of salt, hints of resins, honey and balsamic herbs. The olfactory picture is completed by a rocky-mineral vein that emerges also at the mouth, accompanied by a vibrant freshness and a salty note. To enjoy it at its best, it is recommended in combination with fish in the form of a stew or grilled. To fully appreciate the style, this wine should be served at a service temperature of 8/10°C.
