TASTING NOTES

A glittering path, up to the present day, that sees the Jermann winery representing a pillar of national viticulture. As the crowning achievement of an unforgettable career, in 2016 Silvio Jermann was given the award in Rome by a jury of international journalists, chaired by Gambero Rosso, of the most representative producer of white wines in the world. Capo Martino, was created to celebrate 110 years of the Jermann family's winemaking history as a blend of indigenous grapes: Friulano, Malvasia, Ribolla Gialla and Picolit. A wine that brings with it roots but also innovation, and takes its name from the hillside in the heart of the Gorizia hill area purchased in 1991, planted with 7.5 hectares of vines. Blend, not blend: the varieties are vinified together, “as my father Angelo did, with short maceration on the skins, and the wine then ferments and ages in large oak barrels for 12-16 months and marketed two years after the harvest,” Silvio Jermann explains. The result is in the Gotha of national white wines: the Capo Martino has been reaping accolades for decades, and each vintage reveals something new. The tasting is vibrant. The yellow that fills the glass is pure gold, bright, and preannounces aromas of native and tropical fruits, with a gentle undertone of vanilla. On tasting, excellent flavour balance and decisive aromaticity are evident, leaving a surprising, unforgettable delicacy in the mouth. The perfect bottle to frame a romantic dinner, where substantial dishes based on seafood may appear, but even more so fine white meats. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Jermann

Since its foundation at the end of the 19th century, Cantina Jermann's mission has been to enhance the ancient winegrowing traditions of the Friulian countryside. Knowledge of cultivation was handed down from generation to generation until the 1970s, when the founder's disciple was able to combine the study of the most modern techniques with his own ingenious inventiveness. Genius and unruliness, combined with passion and study, has taken the company to the top of the Italian and world wine scene. Another feature of the winery's process is the focus on organic and sustainable viticulture, to reconcile the art of viticulture with respect for the land and the vine times. The company talks to the world every day, but the focus always remains on the concrete things that make a wine great, including the oldest traditions. The end result will give you an extraordinary experience, and allow you to discover the authentic flavour of Friuli wine in a glass. Name and address of producer/distributor: Jermann- Località Trussio Ruttars, 11A, 34070 Ruttars, Dolegna del Collio GO.
