TASTING NOTES

For three generations, the Maculan family has been selecting and making wine from the best grapes in Breganze, a small town at the foot of the Asiago Plateau with an ideal microclimate for grape cultivation. It all started in 1947 thanks to Giovanni Maculan, and in the following years it passed into the hands of Fausto Maculan who, with doggedness and immense passion, brought it to its current reality. Daughters Angela and Maria Vittoria joined their father in running the company in 2007. The winery is located on hilly vineyards with the best exposures in the DOC Breganze area to have ripe and healthy grapes to produce excellent quality wines. The company cultivates about 40 hectares with vines and olive trees and produces grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Tai and Vespaiolo in its own territory. Passito Dindarello by Maculan is a Veneto IGT white raisin wine made from monovarietal Moscato grapes. The wine undergoes partial drying of the grapes for about a month in drying lofts, fermentation in steel vats, with bottle ageing for three months. In the glass it is straw yellow in colour with bright golden reflections. The bouquet is reminiscent of the aroma of orange blossom, citrus, tropical fruit and hints of acacia honey. On the palate it is harmonious, with excellent balance between aromatic richness and significant freshness. It also has excellent length. This white raisin wine is ideal for Sunday lunch and goes well with desserts, such as sbrisolona with mascarpone. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Maculan

In wine production, certainly the mild climate helps cultivation and processing, providing the products with special flavours and aromas. This is well known by the Maculan family, who have been producing extraordinary Veneto wines in their winery in the Breganze area of Veneto since 1947. Here, one of the greatest strengths is certainly the successful combination of tradition and modern, innovative cultivation and production techniques. The approximately 40 hectares cultivated by the property extend at the foot of the Asiago Plateau, where the soils are mainly composed of volcanic, tuff-rich hills and gravelly flat areas. Over the years, these landforms have proven to be perfect for production of unquestionable quality. It is no coincidence that the entire Breganze area has been designated as DOC for its cultivation of vines and olive trees. From the winery come a number of fine red wines that perfectly convey the link with the land and innovation, such as Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. But there are also special whites, which are fresher and more aromatic with fruity tendencies, e.g. Tai, Pinot Bianco and Grigio and Vespaiolo. Sweet wines are also offered at Maculan, made from grapes selected by hand at specific times of the drying process; examples are Torcolato and Acininobili from the Vespaiola grape and Dindarello, of Muscat origin. Finally, there is also a special sparkling wine proposal, the Tre Volti, made from Chardonnay grapes, after a hand harvest and soft pressing. Name and address of producer/distributor: Maculan - Via Castelletto, 3, 36042 Breganze VI. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
