THE WINERYCastello della Sala
On the slopes of the Umbrian Apennines where time seems to stand still, shrouded in an aura of charm and mystery, stands the Castello della Sala. This imposing medieval manor, built in 1350, now belongs to the Antinori family, which has been taking care of the production of one of the best Umbrian wines with ambition and care since 1979. Not far from the border with Tuscany and the iconic city of Orvieto, the 500 hectares of Antinori soils, rich in clay and minerals, are criss-crossed by the river Paglia and long rows of vines of different varieties: Chardonnay, Grechetto, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc and many others.
Under the guidance of agronomist Renzo Cotarella, the winery works tirelessly in the search for a white wine capable of expressing itself over the years and evolving over time, asserting itself through character and personality.
In Castello della Sala's modern, recently updated wine cellar, each grape is treated with the utmost respect for the raw material, and then transferred to the estate's historic refining cellars, dating back to the 14th century, where the ageing process takes its course. Name and address of producer/distributor: Castello della Sala - Località Sala, 05016 Ficulle TR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
