TASTING NOTES

Apparita is the first Merlot vinified alone in Tuscany, which has become iconic since 1985, its first vintage. The grapes come from a dedicated Cru, in which the soil rich in clay and the form of plant breeding allow the Merlot to express itself at its highest levels. After fermentation, the wine rests for about 14 months in barriques of first and second passage, then rest further in the bottle. With a concentrated and intense ruby red color, L'Apparita is characterized by hints of blackberries and blueberries, violet followed by elegant notes of cocoa and juniper. The mouthfeel is dense, persistent but made dynamic and slender by tannins, the finish is balsamic and surprisingly fresh. Apparita is undoubtedly a Tuscan red wine to drink on great occasions, special in combination with tasty meat preparations such as hare, lamb or game. To fully appreciate the style, L'Apparita must be served at a service temperature of 16/18 to C. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Castello di Ama

The Castello di Ama winery owes its origins to four families of Roman origin who, charmed by the beauty of the hills of Tuscany and united by a passion for good wine, decided to try their hand at producing Chianti in the 1970s, bringing the ancient village of Ama back into vogue. This village, a hamlet of Gaiole in Chianti, is surrounded by 75 hectares of vineyards, divided into four areas, all at an altitude of between 420 and 525 metres above sea level. The soils are rich in limestone, clay and rocks, each able to give a particular note to the different grapes that are harvested there: freshness and elegance here, harmony and power there, dotted with hints of berry fruits, tobacco, liquorice and mint. Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti, the current managers of the Castello di Ama winery, now produce labels of exceptional value, recognised and appreciated all over the world. As Marco explains, their aim is to make the uniqueness of the soil, landscape and vines perceivable with every sip of their fine red wine. Name and address of producer/distributor: Castello di Ama - Località Ama in Chianti, 53013 Gaiole in Chianti SI. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
