TASTING NOTES

A history of passion and tradition has always set this family business apart. Azienda Tre Monti has handed down the secrets of Romagna’s viticulture from generation to generation, with the aim of creating Emilia-Romagna wines of the highest quality. Sangiovese Riserva Thea is a still red Romagna wine made from Sangiovese grapes from the municipality of Oriolo. It is the most prestigious and elegant label of the Tre Monti winery. The winery is located at the heart of the Imola hills. The vineyards here are cultivated in accordance with the fascinating method of integrated pest management, which involves planting grasses between the rows of vines, combined with consideration of the influence of the phases of the moon. It’s a classic biodynamic philosophy. The grapes come from the vine variety of the same name, which grows in the clay-rich, sandy soil, and is dedicated to Mamma Thea. Malolactic maceration takes place for 12 days followed by ageing in new Allier barriques for nine months. This wine is a concentrated ruby red in colour with elegant aromas of red fruit on the nose, giving way to spicy notes of black pepper and liquorice. Warm with a good structure and a dense yet fine tannic texture, it has a long and persistent finish. It is ideal for pairing with vegetable-based pasta dishes.
