TASTING NOTES

Production

Rubicone Sangiovese Maramia is a dry IGT red wine produced by Tenuta Mara in the Emilia-Romagna region. At Tenuta Mara, healthy grapes at the right stage of ripeness are harvested by hand and transported to the winery, where they undergo a rigorous selection process. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation in truncated-cone-shaped oak vats, without temperature control and without the addition of selected yeasts. Once deemed ready, the wine is then transferred to the barrel cellar, accompanied by the gentle melodies of classical music. Thus is born Rubicone Sangiovese Maramia, the wine that best describes the world of art and wine at Tenuta Mara. Produced from 100% Sangiovese, following alcoholic fermentation it remains in maceration on the skins for about a month. It then matures on the fine lees for 16 months in small barrels and tonneaux, both made of French oak. It is then finished with bottle ageing. 100 ml: E=363 kJ/87 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, Rubicono Sangiovese Maramia appears as a fairly intense and clear ruby red. On the nose, it reveals notes of ripe red fruits and floral hints of rose and violet, with a pleasantly spicy finish. On the palate, it is well-balanced: the tannins and acidity harmonise well with the wine’s smoothness. The finish is persistent, with balsamic notes.

Occasion and Pairing

Perfect for Sunday lunches, it pairs well with red meat dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Tenuta Mara

For some, the name “Franciacorta” originated from “Petite France”, an affectionate name Charlemagne gave to the area; others, however, think the name originated from “curtes francae”, a type of medieval monastic court. Which statement is true between the two is unknown. It is true, however, that Tenuta Montenisa is able to bring out the unique qualities of the Franciacorta area to the fullest. It is also true that, thanks to its commitment and meticulous and constant work, the winery is now a point of reference in the production of Lombard wines of the highest quality, capable of representing the most authentic side of the territory of origin in every glass. The farm is located a short distance from the village of Calino, one of the most characteristic places in the area, and has always been committed to protecting the unique characteristics of the land on which it stands. A fertile, mineral-rich area that, combined with a temperate microclimate, contributes to the growth of excellent grapes. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tenuta Montenisa - Via Papa Paolo VI, 25046 Calino (BS). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
