TASTING NOTES

Production

Recioto della Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani is born from a very strict selection of the Corvina (85%), Merlot (10%) and Rondinella (15%) grape clusters from the vineyards located on the marl-limestone soils of Valpantena. The bunches are then allowed to wilt on traditional bamboo trellises called arele, for about three months before being fermented at low temperature in such a way as to obtain greater extraction of aromatic substances. Once the must reaches a sugar concentration of 120 g/l, it is separated from the pomace and aged for a year in cherry barrels to enhance its aromatic properties. 100 ml: E=479 kJ/114 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Visually it is dense, almost impenetrable to light, with garnet hues. On the nose it is intense fragrant with the typical hints of cherry and morello cherry. In the mouth it is sweet but never cloying, it maintains a nice freshness that leaves a long and persistent finish of red fruits.

Occasion and Pairing

These characteristics make this sweet Venetian wine suitable as a fine meal for Sunday lunch or as a meditation wine.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this Recioto should be served at a serving temperature of 14°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Bertani

Renowned for the production of excellent Veneto wines, the Bertani estate is located in Quinto di Valpantena, near Verona. The founders, Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani, combined enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit to produce fine, bold wines, thanks also to the French techniques of Professor Guyot, as learnt by Gaetano. With its two cellars and vineyards in the Valpantena Classica area and its estates in the Soave and Lake Garda areas, Bertani was one of the first Italian companies to promote the bottling of wine, with investments and advanced viticultural and winemaking production techniques. All while respecting the terroir and local culture. The recognition of excellence dates back to 1923, with the approval of the royal family. The more than 200 hectares of vineyards include the two historic Grezzana wine cellars, for vinification and bottling, and Tenuta Novare, near Arbizzano di Negrar. From these estates come two of Veneto's most sought-after red wines, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Amarone, icons of the area. But production does not stop there: renowned white wines such as Soave also come from the Bertani estate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Bertani - Via Asiago, 1 - 37023 Grezzana VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
