TASTING NOTES

When speaking about Bortolomiol, you are really talking about the history and culture of Italian sparkling wine. The family’s presence in the hills of Valdobbiadene reaches back to the start of the 18th century, when Bartolomeo Bortolomiol cultivated the first vineyards with passion. The tradition was passed down through the generations, until Giuliano Bortolomiol, a young graduate of the Conegliano School of Winemaking, now considered to be among the great pioneers of Italian sparkling wine production and a master of the Martinotti method, founded what is now the winery in the post-WWII period. Today, the company is managed by his four daughters. It covers an area of around five hectares cultivated with organic farming and benefits from a vast network of partners who are united by a project aimed at the continuous updating of wine growers’ technology, the identification of the most prestigious vineyards, and the sharing of knowledge in order to obtain grapes of the very best quality. Prosecco Valdobbiadene Brut ‘Senior’ is one of the winery’s most iconic and well-known wines. With this product, Bortolomiol is aiming to create a universal symbol of Prosecco Valdobbiadene, and the name reflects this desire. The wine is produced exclusively from Glera grapes grown in the vineyards of the Valdobbiadene hills, which gives the grapes immense aromatic richness. The grapes are strictly harvested by hand so that only the very best bunches are turned into wine. After being harvested, they are pressed gently and the must is fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. They then undergo a second fermentation in pressure tanks, as is customary with the Martinotti and Charmat methods, and are left to age on their lees for 30 or 90 days. The colour of this wine is straw yellow with greenish reflections, made brighter by its fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, it exudes elegant, fruity notes of candied citrus, white flowers, balsamic herbs, and fresh almonds. In the mouth, it is soft with a pleasant full flavour. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Bortolomiol

With origins dating back to the second half of the 1700s in the hills of Valdobbiadene, the Bortolomiol winery has always invested in the quality and future of Prosecco in its designation, values proudly upheld by the four daughters of Giuliano Bortolomiol, founder of the current sparkling wine company. When Bartolomeo Bortolomiol, the forefather of the prestigious winemaking family, began cultivating the first rows of vines, he probably never imagined that his name would echo through the centuries as a synonym for Italian tradition and excellence. The unmistakable notes of Bortolomiol's Prosecco Superiore are the result of constant research and attention to detail, pursued by a team with the utmost expertise in winemaking, that follows the entire production process from the vine to the bottle. Such solid roots are combined with innovative projects that guarantee that this Veneto winery will be a success, from generation to generation. Thanks to Bortolomiol's organic production, the earth is preserved and protected, ensuring a low environmental impact.
