TASTING NOTES

Production

The Deltetto family has been dedicated to viticulture since the late 19th century and has been committed to certified organic viticulture since 2017. The estate’s production straddles the Roero and Langhe regions, areas of Piedmont with different geological origins whose morphological compositions are reflected in the characteristics of the wines produced. The Roero has alluvial soil characterised by sandstone, rocks composed of sand and limestone. This soft, mineral-rich soil is perfect for both white and red wines, yielding fruity, light wines that are complex yet very elegant. The Langhe DOC, of older origin, is instead characterised by a more compact soil composed of clay and marl. It is particularly suited, especially in the Barolo area, to producing red wines of great structure. I Lioni is the name by which the Deltetto family was traditionally known and from which the small hamlet takes its name; it was here, in the old family farmhouse, that the first bottles of Nebbiolo were produced. This wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo from the Langhe, harvested from the estate’s finest plots. It matures for around 12 months in oak barrels and is then further refined in the bottle. 100 ml: E=325 kJ/78 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

It presents a pale ruby red colour, but on the nose it is frank and sincere, with delicate notes of violet, currant and light spices. The flavour is fresh and elegant, with light, still-lively tannins and good length.

Occasion and Pairing

Perfect with pasta, mature cheeses and meat dishes; interesting when paired with a tartare, perhaps made from Fassona beef.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Deltetto

Established in 1953 in the historic and prestigious wine-producing areas of Piedmont, in the heart of the Roero area, the Deltetto farm has always been involved in the production of prestigious and renowned wines, according to traditional Piedmontese wine-producing techniques. Founded by Carlo Deltetto, the company is now headed by his son Antonio. 21 hectares of vineyards where, following a company philosophy dedicated to safeguarding the surrounding ecosystem, the large and delicate Piedmontese red wines are produced, such as the traditional Langhe D.O.C. Nebbiolo, obtained from native vine varieties. Created from a great passion for the area and the vineyards, the wines of the area are the maximum expression of the land from which they are created, from the elegant white wines including the renowned Barolo D.O.C.G, to classic sparkling wines such as the typical Pinot Noir. Over the years, the Deltetto company has managed to combine the traditions of Piedmontese production with the distinctiveness offered by the land, achieving excellent results. Name and address of producer/distributor: Deltetto - Corso Alba, 43, 12043 Canale CN. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
