TASTING NOTES

Production

The Argiolas winery was founded in the late 1930s thanks to Antonio’s vision, and he nurtured and developed it for years before passing the baton to his children. Today, the business is run by his grandchildren, the third generation of the Argiolas family. The winery is based in Serdiana, in the splendid Sardinian setting, growing its own grapes and producing its own wines using a sustainable method that respects and reflects the local terroir. Both in the vineyard and in the cellar, the use of chemicals is kept to a minimum, and the vines are tended using specific pruning techniques that preserve the plant. Today, it is one of Sardinia’s most important wineries, always mindful of biodiversity, given the numerous native grape varieties present. Argiolas has decided to launch a complex and challenging project aimed at conserving and protecting this precious heritage in a unique territory with strong influences from the winds and the sea, which can only be appreciated so distinctly in coastal wines. Monica di Sardegna Perdera is a Sardinian red wine made from a selection of Monica, Bovale and Carignano grapes grown on calcareous-clay soils. Following fermentation in concrete tanks, the wine undergoes ageing in small oak barrels and a further brief period of bottle ageing. 100 ml E=348 kJ/83 kcal

THE WINERY

Argiolas

Near Cagliari, among the low, undulating hills that make up the landscape of Serdiana, lies the Argiolas winery, which has kept its production traditions intact for more than a century. The hills around the city and its gulf have been cultivated for millennia, and have hosted all kinds of crops. Olive groves, fields and precious vineyards have always been part of Serdiana's history, and the Argiolas winery continues this with pride. Experimentation, care for the environment and tradition come together in a production facility steeped in history, in search of the perfect way to enhance the characteristics of the terroir. Three generations have poured precision and love for the vines into every glass. In essence, it's simple: harvest after harvest, the tradition of these exceptional Sardinian wines is handed down from parents to children, so they continue to be produced with care and quality, in full respect of the terroir while looking to the future. Name and address of producer/distributor: Argiolas - Via Roma, 28/30, 09040 Serdiana (CA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
