TASTING NOTES

The Argiolas winery was founded in the late 1930s thanks to an intuition of Antonio, making it grow and enhancing it for years before passing the baton to his children. Today, the company is run by his grandchildren, the third generation of the Argiolas family. The winery is based in Serdiana, in the beautiful Sardinian countryside, growing its own grapes and producing its wines using a sustainable method that respects and reflects the land. Chemical use is kept to a minimum and specific pruning techniques are used on the vines which preserve the plants. Today, it is one of the most important companies in Sardinia, always attentive to biodiversity, given the numerous indigenous grape varieties present. Argiolas decided to launch a complex and demanding project aimed at conserving and protecting this precious heritage in a unique area with strong influences brought by the winds and the sea that we can appreciate so markedly only in coastal wines. Monica di Sardegna Perdera is a Sardinian red wine that comes from a selection of Monica, Bovale and Carignano grapes on calcareous-clayey soils. After the fermentation which is carried out in cement, there is a subsequent ageing in small oak barrels and a further brief bottle ageing. Intense ruby in colour, the nose is typical of Monica, with fruit-infused, floral and spicy notes. In the mouth, it is a round wine, with smooth tannins and a slightly sweet finish. Wine suitable for any type of occasion, highly recommended paired with cured meats.

Near Cagliari, among the low, undulating hills that make up the landscape of Serdiana, lies the Argiolas winery, which has kept its production traditions intact for more than a century. The hills around the city and its gulf have been cultivated for millennia, and have hosted all kinds of crops. Olive groves, fields and precious vineyards have always been part of Serdiana's history, and the Argiolas winery continues this with pride. Experimentation, care for the environment and tradition come together in a production facility steeped in history, in search of the perfect way to enhance the characteristics of the terroir.
